The Counsellor

  1. I understand in the title “The Awakening of a Nobody” that the final goal of this book is Liberation. It has been in my mind for a long time that I wonder if there is really an escape from the circle of the cosmic laws?

All traditions in Buddhism, in Hinduism talk about reincarnation. Buddha gave the vow to return until the last being is enlighted. To my knowledge that vow is still made by all monks.

In Hinduism it is a contradiction. They talk about Moksha, final liberation, but at the same time have a strong tradition of reincarnation within the same family, ie. My son is my grandfather.

This does not question the beautiful state of being “enlighted”. But, can we go beyond the cosmic law?

    1. I would like to ask you a question right in the beginning of the book.
The name is The awakening of a nobody. I understand in this title that the final goal of this book is Liberation. It has been in my mind for a long time that I wonder if there is really an escape from the circle of nature, universe, the cosmic laws.

No, there is no escape, but why would you want to escape from these things? The circle of Nature is your Nature; the universe and what you call cosmic laws, are all yours. Liberation is for the mind and the mind only. You as you truly are do not need liberation, just your mind: your field of experience needs liberation.

All traditions in Buddhism, in Hinduism talk about reincarnation. Buddha gave the vow to return until the last being is enlighted. To my knowledge that vow is still made by all monks.

Yes, they all talk “about” such things, but very few “From It.” The mind reincarnates, but Who you are does not. The mind, as the Counsellor explains, is the field of experience. All experiences have a beginning and an end, in fact, this is what makes them experiences. What you call an incarnation is an experience, a rather large one though. Now what does this experiences arise in? This is You as you truly Are, free from experiences. This is the True intelligence. Sat Chit Ananda to use your terminology.  Meaning: Being  (Sat) in consummation with consciousness (here pointing at the fact that you ARE aware -Chit) is Bliss (Ananda).

In Hinduism it is a contradiction. They talk about Moksha, final liberation, but at the same time have a strong tradition of reincarnation within the same family, ie. My son is my grandfather.

There would little point in denying the path one walks on – you could easily trip over your divine feet and end up in the gutter. What you refer to might be a part of the path for you, but it is not the destination. So the choice must me yours. Do you want the path or the destination? You will never loose the path by focusing on the destination, but focussing on the path will give no guarantee of arriving anywhere.

This does not question the beautiful state of being “enlighted”. But, I really dont know why my connection with my music caste, past life family and friends can be harmful

You have a connection to everything. Why should that be harmful? The past belongs to the past. To put one’s focus there is like walking backwards into the future. And this, plus a preference for the path one walks on, instead of the destination, would surely leave anyone falling over all the time. There are many obsticales on the path, mainly for those that don’t keep their eyes on the destination. One of those obsticales is the belief: “who I am has started in the past and is growing toward the future.” This is not just a silly belief, it’s a fundamental lie. Mind, the field of experience, is there so you have something to walk on. The path is experienced as moving from the past to the future just to make it easy for you. Like a path that circulates a mountain, the path will lead you back to where you started. Eventually you might get tired of this and gaze up at the top of the mountain. This might lead to you changing the path you are on for a more difficult path, though maybe a more rewarding one.

Hope this is of use. If not, just discard it. All paths lead us home, though some are just much much nicer.
